Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-06-02

1. Acceptance

By using The Work at skep.co, you agree to these terms. If you do not use the service, these terms do not apply to you.

2. What we provide

The Work is a digital self-inquiry tool based on the method by Byron Katie. We provide a structured process, an AI coach (powered by Grok), and the option to send your session to a human coach.

3. Not a medical or therapeutic service

The Work is not medical advice, not psychotherapy, and not a substitute for professional help. In an acute crisis: call your local emergency number (112 in the EU, 911 in the US), a suicide-prevention hotline, or seek immediate medical care.

4. No affiliation with Byron Katie

"The Work" is a method developed by Byron Katie. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or officially endorsed by Byron Katie or The Work, Inc. This is an independent implementation as a study aid. Official source: thework.com.

5. AI disclosure (EU AI Act, art. 50)

The coach in this app is an AI, not a human. Responses are generated by a large language model (Grok by x.ai) and may be factually incorrect or misleading. Do not rely blindly on AI output.

6. Your use

You agree not to use the service for unlawful purposes, not to attempt to bypass the system, and not to flood it with automated requests (rate limit: 5 emails per hour per IP).

7. Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is". We are not liable for any loss, damage, or emotional impact arising from your use, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

8. Changes

These terms may change. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

9. Governing law

Dutch law applies. Disputes fall under the competent court in the Netherlands.
